Our Top Witches of All Time
Our Top Witches of All Time
Every generation has its icons, but for those of us who grew up in the real golden age of witches, the 80's and 90's, were pure magic! Seeing its October lets take a look at the spellbinding witches who shaped our childhoods. These weren’t your cauldron-stirring, pointy-hat witches they were messy, funny, fierce, and utterly human (well, almost). They made magic feel possible and sometimes, just a little dangerous.
Here are our top witches of all time and what they taught us along the way.
🪄 Louise Miller — Teen Witch
That moment Louise cast a spell to become “the most popular girl”? Iconic. Louise taught us that magic isn’t really about making people like you it’s about learning to like yourself. The lesson? Confidence is the most powerful potion of all. And yes for all your Gen Z, who have no idea who this is.. it's Blake Lively's Sister.
🌕 Willow Rosenberg — Buffy the Vampire Slayer
From shy bookworm to full-blown witchy powerhouse, Willow’s journey in Buffy the Vampire Slayer gave us chills (and maybe a few tears). Her magic was tied to her emotions, reminding us that our feelings aren’t weaknesses they’re where our power lives. This is still Jacinta's all time favourite Tv show, watching it every year and owns all the DVD's.

🔮 Nancy, Bonnie, Rochelle & Sarah — The Craft
Let’s be honest every friendship group had a “Craft” phase (and at least one person who got way too into levitating pencils). These witches showed us that power without kindness can destroy but sisterhood with compassion can heal. This movie even inspired of Power of Kindness spell - a potion to create Kindness that will return to you threefold.

💫 The Halliwell Sisters — Charmed
Prue, Piper, Phoebe, and later Paige the original multitaskers. Battling demons by night, running businesses (and families) by day. They reminded us that sisterhood is its own kind of magic and that no spell is stronger than having your sisters by your side.

🧹 The Sanderson Sisters — Hocus Pocus
They were wicked, hilarious, and slightly terrifying but oh, how we loved them. Winifred, Mary, and Sarah taught us that aging is nothing to fear, that laughter keeps you young, and that a good lipstick shade is eternal.

✨ Sabrina Spellman — Sabrina the Teenage Witch (The original of course)
With a talking cat, a sarcastic aunts duo, and spells that always seemed to go wrong, Sabrina was every teen’s dream and disaster rolled into one. She taught us that growing up is messy and that even when magic fails, humour will save you.

💋 Samantha Stephens — Bewitched
and if course who could forget that before all the teen witches and sister covens, there was Samantha the original suburban spellcaster. With one twitch of her nose, she could fix anything (well, almost). But Samantha taught us that sometimes the hardest magic is balancing who you truly are with the expectations of the world around you. And that being unapologetically yourself (sparkles and all) is the real enchantment.

🧚 Our Honourable Mentions must go too.....
Hermione Granger — because bookish girls with big dreams changed the game.
Glinda & Elphaba — proof that good and “wicked” are often just a matter of perspective.
Practical Magic’s Sally & Gillian Owens — because sometimes the real magic is family, margaritas, and breaking generational curses together.
These witches weren’t just fantasy to us, they were lessons in confidence, courage, friendship, and finding your power (with or without a wand). Maybe that’s why potion play still resonates today because we all remember how it felt to believe in magic once…
and we’re not quite ready to let that go.
